Occupational Health and Safety
OH&S Policy
All workers are briefed on our expectations when it comes to safety. We believe safety is everyone’s responsibility and strive to maintain free and open communication channels between ourselves, our workers and our clients.
BSM has a detailed OHS policy and any worker introduced to our clients’ sites are aware of their requirements under this policy. With this, our policy incorporates the necessary flexibility in order for our clients’ internal rules, regulations and policies to be adhered to.
BSM representatives are not present 24 hrs a day on all sites. Therefore we stress to our clients that BSM workers are under their direct control and supervision, and require that the actions of our clients are in accordance with standards set by the Workcover authority. All workers are however fully informed on safety issues prior to going out on site.
Unfortunately we are not in a perfect world and accidents do occur. Both small and large accidents are important, BSM has a 24 hour service and our requirement is to be notified immediately when any incident occurs as to ensure immediate action is taken for the worker.
BSM provides clear avenues for rehabilitation for our workers. It is desirable that appropriate duties may be found in current employment positions to allow rehabilitation for the worker with minimal changes. Realistically this cannot always be the case. As such BSM has they’re own workshop facilities that may assist return to work procedures. Throughout this process the worker will be in frequent contact with our rehabilitation partner, Injury Management Assist whom provide rehabilitation, medical and vocational services. |
